Overnight lane closures for sewer construction on New Circle Road

LEXINGTON, KY(Feb. 24, 2025) – Beginning this week, sanitary sewer construction will close one lane of New Circle Road between Colesbury Circle and Russell Cave Road at night. Through March 14, sections of the outside lane of the outer loop of New Circle will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

From March 10 – 14, Colesbury Circle will be closed at night for sewer construction. The access road will be used to detour around the closure. When Colesbury Circle is complete, the New Circle access road will be closed at night for sewer construction until May. Business driveway access will be maintained during construction. Roads will be covered with steel plates during the day so that traffic is not affected.

The construction involves New Circle Road sanitary sewer trunks A and B. Approximately 8,000 feet of sanitary sewer line will be constructed along the New Circle Road corridor by the end of 2026. This project is part of the federal consent decree requirements for Lexington to improve its sanitary sewer system.
