Last week’s storm is delaying yard waste collections

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 20, 2018) – Last week’s winter storm generated a lot of downed trees and limbs for residents in Fayette County. As a result, more yard waste carts, branch bundles and yard waste bags are being set out than is typical.

Yard waste collectors worked all day Monday, but were unable to finish their normal routes because of the significant volume of material. Homes with city collections that were missed on Monday will be serviced today. This extended pickup window is likely to cause some of Tuesday’s collections to be delayed until Wednesday. Normally, there is no yard waste collection on Wednesdays.

If the heavy yard waste volume continues on Thursday, then some of those collections could be delayed until Friday. If some Friday collections are missed, they will be picked up on Saturday.

Residents whose carts are not serviced on their regular collection day are asked to keep their carts out at the curb until they are.

It is possible that the snow Lexington is expected to receive tonight and Wednesday may impact this collection schedule.
