City crews checking bridges and overpasses

City crews continue to check bridges and overpasses this morning as Lexington remains ready to deal with threatening winter weather.

The Office of Homelessness Prevention and Intervention has extended the Emergency Weather Planactivation until December 15. This plan is activated anytime the temperature is expected to fall below 32 degrees so that people experiencing homelessness in Lexington have access to warm, secure shelter.

Community Action Council is currently housing 10 families in their emergency shelter, plus two overflow families in local hotels. The two families are in need of lunch, dinner, snacks, paper plates, plastic silverware, etc. To donate, contact Marty Jones at Community Action Council, (859) 233-4600.
